Back in the fall of 2002 I had my own radio show at the University of Southern California. It was pretty kick ass, having a 4-day week of classes ending on Thursday with my radio show, The Happy Show. We featured songs that made people happy, that simple.
I started to think of this recently as I have been so depressed watching the news. Of course it’s extremely important for us to be aware of what is going on in the world, good & bad. The other night I was watching Rock Center, which I recommend by the way. They told this story on the HORRIFIC inhumane acts happening to the Rhino population. As they’re slowly becoming extinct people are killing them for their horns and letting them die slowly & painfully. I can not stop crying when I think of this. News show after news show, more and more sadness. Then I ran across this story, the largest liver donation chain ever. Thinking about how much positive came out of this gave me hope. Positive stories like this inspire me to try and be a better person. So perhaps while we take in all of the sad news, let’s also think about the good things happening locally and globally.
I told my friend, Joy Parrish, that I planned on trying to share a happy story once a week, she told me about this website, Happy News. I’ll start there:) Brian suggested the hashtag, #somethinghappy. My goal is to share a happy story at least once a week. Some weeks are busier than others, so please help me! Let’s do this together! If you discover something going on that is positive, big or small, new or old, serious or funny please share it (on facebook, twitter, in e-mails to your friends or even just telling people). #somethinghappy
Stay tuned!
