This is my hero and he told me, “All you need is a bib.”

In effort to take more photos, make more random videos and just explore, I’m letting my son lead the way.  We went to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, met some mountain goats, a moose and took a trip to Mars.  Conversations included, Polar Bear “Actually I’m not pooping.”  Walrus #1 “Hello.” Walrus #2 “Hi.” plus more.

In all of the chaos of life I definitely recommend taking a break and letting your little explorer take you on an adventure.  Your turn!

Happy Birthday Grandma!  Today she would have been 86 years old.  I wrote about her last year here.  My Grandma was special to so many people.  She was born & lived her whole life in New York City.  We couldn’t walk a block without bumping into one of her friends.  In fact, we took a trip to the Upper West Side over this past Thanksgiving and bumped into the same man on the street selling books, who of course was friends with my Grandma.  We also were lucky enough to get a peek of the old apartment thanks to the current renters.  A lot has happened in ten years!

The photo on the right is of my Great Grandpa in his darkroom, my Grandma’s Dad, who also would be celebrating his birthday today!  He was a photographer, it runs in the family:)

I wish so much that I had recorded more video of my Grandma & Grandpa… so make sure you record some family video this weekend!  I did find a few shots that I put in this video when we would take our annual trip to the Macy’s Day Parade on Thanksgiving.  We love and miss you tremendously.

Hello Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Aunts, cousins, everyone!  Ever since I got the domain name Made with True Love I’ve wanted to do something fun with it. I’m clearly addicted to taking videos & photos (especially of our new baby boy) and thought if only I had some place to gather and display all of these ideas.  Perhaps parents would be inspired and it could be a creative outlet related to babies!   I couldn’t get it out of my mind.  I just couldn’t NOT do it.  So with that, here is Made with True Love, a place people can come to learn and get different ideas on how to document their pregnancy and baby’s growth.  It’s kind of an experiment and I hope to show lots of clever things other parents are doing plus guest blog posts.  This is one of a few new & fun projects I’m working on, hope you enjoy!

Below is a video made up of about 320 photos Brian took on a weekly basis of my belly growing.  We uploaded them to JobSiteVisitor.com, which really can be used to document anything that is being constructed;)

What I did before I was born

I was not planning on making this video, it was more of an idea that grew after Liam was born.  I started to think about all of the places Liam had traveled to, Mexico, Philly etc. and all of the things he had done before he was even born.

Brian and I took weekly photos to eventually make a stop motion of my belly. It’s kind of embarrassing, my obsession with filming things but it makes me feel better to think of what Brad Feld said, “Be obsessed with the thing you are doing”. So on that note, I definitely encourage you all to at least film a few everyday things here and there. One of my regrets is not getting more footage of my Grandma before she got sick but having what I have of her, I love!

Since the idea to make this video didn’t come until recently, I tried to include everyone as much as possible.  Please don’t be offended if you’re not in the video a lot.  With that said, I hope you’re not in the video if you didn’t want to be.

Thanks to everyone who took photos & video especially Brian, Elissa, Gene, & Ryan for capturing some of those moments!  Also a huge thank you to Henri, Liam’s Uncle-in-law, who is not only a good role model but the voice of Liam in this video.

Let’s be adventurous together because it’s just the beginning!

Howard Sokol

Meet Howard Sokol.  He’s is one of the first friends Brian and I made after moving to Colorado.  Brian met Howard at the dumpster right outside our old house and the rest is history.  Howard is an incredibly talented photographer in Denver and also happens to be a very unique person.  Learn from his keys to success in this short video we made just for fun.

A few years ago I worked at The Network DC, a local Denver TV station, and met some awesome people there, including my friend Bradford Johanson, editor/animator pro.  He recently told me about an interesting new project he’s working on based out of Vermont.  Bloom is a four-part film series designed to educate the viewing public on regenerative responses to environmental degradation, with an emphasis on water quality in the Champlain Basin.  Bright Blue EcoMedia has an educational mission to produce digital media that will enhance, enrich, and sustain human cultures and the ecological systems on which they rely.  You can donate here and watch the trailer “Bloom: The Plight of Lake Champlain” below.

Today is the first official day of fall. Last weekend we took Liam to Aspen on his first road trip and this is my first video (below) using the Canon 7D.  A lot of firsts ! Instead of carrying around my big Panasonic HPX (which really isn’t that big) I can carry around my new SLR that covers two purposes, photos & video. Yes, I’m a little embarrassed & obsessed with taking so much video but like I mentioned before and as Brad Feld from Foundry Group said, “Be obsessed with what you are doing”. This makes me feel better.  Somehow I made the time to put this quick video together.  Liam was my assistant editor.

On that note, please make sure to take a few pictures and even video of your fall trip this year.  Here are some photos & video from last year.
