This is my hero and he told me, “All you need is a bib.”

In effort to take more photos, make more random videos and just explore, I’m letting my son lead the way.  We went to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, met some mountain goats, a moose and took a trip to Mars.  Conversations included, Polar Bear “Actually I’m not pooping.”  Walrus #1 “Hello.” Walrus #2 “Hi.” plus more.

In all of the chaos of life I definitely recommend taking a break and letting your little explorer take you on an adventure.  Your turn!

Happy Birthday Grandma!  Today she would have been 86 years old.  I wrote about her last year here.  My Grandma was special to so many people.  She was born & lived her whole life in New York City.  We couldn’t walk a block without bumping into one of her friends.  In fact, we took a trip to the Upper West Side over this past Thanksgiving and bumped into the same man on the street selling books, who of course was friends with my Grandma.  We also were lucky enough to get a peek of the old apartment thanks to the current renters.  A lot has happened in ten years!

The photo on the right is of my Great Grandpa in his darkroom, my Grandma’s Dad, who also would be celebrating his birthday today!  He was a photographer, it runs in the family:)

I wish so much that I had recorded more video of my Grandma & Grandpa… so make sure you record some family video this weekend!  I did find a few shots that I put in this video when we would take our annual trip to the Macy’s Day Parade on Thanksgiving.  We love and miss you tremendously.

Hello Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Aunts, cousins, everyone!  Ever since I got the domain name Made with True Love I’ve wanted to do something fun with it. I’m clearly addicted to taking videos & photos (especially of our new baby boy) and thought if only I had some place to gather and display all of these ideas.  Perhaps parents would be inspired and it could be a creative outlet related to babies!   I couldn’t get it out of my mind.  I just couldn’t NOT do it.  So with that, here is Made with True Love, a place people can come to learn and get different ideas on how to document their pregnancy and baby’s growth.  It’s kind of an experiment and I hope to show lots of clever things other parents are doing plus guest blog posts.  This is one of a few new & fun projects I’m working on, hope you enjoy!

Below is a video made up of about 320 photos Brian took on a weekly basis of my belly growing.  We uploaded them to JobSiteVisitor.com, which really can be used to document anything that is being constructed;)

Howard Sokol

Meet Howard Sokol.  He’s is one of the first friends Brian and I made after moving to Colorado.  Brian met Howard at the dumpster right outside our old house and the rest is history.  Howard is an incredibly talented photographer in Denver and also happens to be a very unique person.  Learn from his keys to success in this short video we made just for fun.

Starting at week 20 (half way) Brian and I decided to take photos of fruit and vegetables that resemble the approximate size of our baby, thanks to iVillage’s comparisons.  If anything by the end we will have a beautiful collage of different textures and colors… or our son will just think we’re crazy.   Probably both.  I did take the liberty of swapping out a zucchini for a pepper in one of the photos.  In the next few weeks we’ll have a separate website dedicated just to baby stuff with ideas on different ways to document your pregnancy and baby.  I’ll keep you posted!

Today is my Grandma’s birthday, she would have been 85 years old.  We miss her so much.  My Grandma, Charlotte, was born in New York City and lived there her entire life.  My Grandma’s parents both came alone in their early teens on a boat from Russia.   My Great Grandpa had his own photography studio in New York, taking after his Dad who was a photographer in Russia.  I proudly come from a long line of photographers.  My Grandma was an extremely popular woman, as we could not go anywhere in the Upper West Side, let alone the entire city, without bumping into a friend.  She was extremely welcoming, thoughtful, and cheerful.

Although my Grandma is no longer here, her memories and heart will always be with us.  It was a great time in life when my Aunt and cousins would meet us at Grandma and Grandpa’s apartment.  My cousin and I would sneak into comedy clubs, bring ice cream into the movies, and drink hot chocolate at the local book store.  I miss our pizza excursions, going to the Macy’s Day Parade followed by Chinese food for Thanksgiving dinner, and really just being in the same room as my Grandma.

With all of this said, I only have a little footage of my Grandparents towards the end of their life and I wish I started recording sooner.  Despite if it seems trivial or your family doesn’t like the camera, at the least sneak a few shots.  This kind of footage is priceless.

Photography Adventure

One of my best friends from growing up was visiting and of course we went on a photography adventure.  Elissa bought a one way ticket from Kabul to Denver, finding herself in the lovely mountain town of Golden taking random photos with me.  It was great.  It’s wonderful to have her close to home again.  She is an amazingly talented photographer/journalist/videographer & adventurer.  Definitely check out her work.

Valentines Day, 2004 Brian gave me a polaroid camera.  We were living in L.A. & took it to Zuma beach.  We took tons of photos while living in California (some polaroids above).  Since then polaroid film is hard to find and expensive.  We’ve really enjoyed using various polaroid and photography apps to give the same effect.  It’s obviously not the same, but still fun!  One of the downfalls is that the photos aren’t printed the same way polaroids are.  That instant gratification in your hand no longer exists.  A solution: make a book!  Polaroid Love is a book of random images we took with polaroid filters added.  Sneak peek below…  Your turn!

Today is my Dad’s birthday & it’s a big one!  Here we are in Philadelphia about 25 years ago.  Happy Birthday Dad!  Thank you for being you.

I found these photos in an old album.  It’s a good reminder to scan any meaningful photographs and documents so you have a digital file backed up.  I do have a surprise present for my Dad, stay tuned!
